Unless you have been hiding under a rock lately, you heard about the Chinese machine learning model Deepseek disrupting the multi-billion-dollar AI business, as well as its suppliers.
Deepseek is available under the MIT license.
This prompted Sam Altman of OpenAI to say that being closed is on the “wrong side of history.”
While definitions of “open source” AI are still fragmented, this announcement shows how open source wins in the marketplace.
