Moderne, creator of code refactoring tool OpenRewrite, raises $30 million

Moderne recently closed a $30 million series B round led by Acrew Capital.

Moderne helps developers implement large-scale changes across codebases in a manner that eliminates technical debt. Moderne’s platform, which is built on its open source OpenRewrite ecosystem, analyzes all of the software that makes up a company’s stack, handles migrations to ensure that third party software is up-to-date, fixes security vulnerabilities, and upgrades older tech to modern cloud-native equivalents.

Moderne’s business model is based on a SaaS offering and an “air-gapped” on premises version.

Sabir is an attorney, entrepreneur, and expert on COSS. In his roles as corporate counsel at Amazon and Roku and associate at Greenberg Traurig, he advised nearly all of the Big Five technology companies on complex open source matters. Currently, he is founder and managing attorney of OptimEdge Legal, where he advises technology clients of all sizes on matters related to open source and other technology law issues.
