This week in COSS: The recent flurry of COSS M&A activity continues as VoidZero was acquired by Cloudflare and Ona was acquired by OpenAI. Meanwhile, on the funding front, PhoenixAI raised an $80M Series B to power its agentic AI database, Mistral is rumored to be raising €3B at a €20B valuation, Mindverse raised ~$50M in a Series A, and Databricks is reportedly in talks to raise a fresh round at a valuation of over $165B. In other announcements, JFrog and NanoClaw launched an AI agent security integration, Bluesky announced a new communities feature, Nous Research joined Nvidia’s Nemotron Coalition, and Chai Discovery signed a licensing deal with Pfizer. Databricks announced its new storage ecosystem, Red Hat and IBM committed $5B to securing open source in the AI era, Firecrawl was profiled for its rapid growth, and OpenRouter data has revealed that American AI startups are quietly shifting traffic to Chinese LLMs.
